Recommended: The Ultimate Collection (Roy Orbison)

#1,164: Hello ... Hello ... my old friends ... It's great to see you once again! A new twenty six (26) track anthology of Roy Orbison classic songs entitled "Roy Orbison: The Ultimate Collection" will be released in the UK and US on Friday 28th October in download, 1CD and 2LP formats. The press release states that Roy's son, Alex, "painstakingly selected" the  songs which range from The Big O's early career with Sun Records all the way through his hit strewn career to his final solo album "Mystery Girl" and his much lauded participation in The Traveling Wilburys.

The compilation includes these six (6) songs featuring Jeff Lynne: "I Drove All Night" (1992); "You Got It" (1989); "California Blue" (1989) and "Heartbreak Radio" (1992) plus - from "Volume 1""Not Alone Anymore" (1988) and "Handle With Care" (1988). "Crying" is also to be found within the release but it is unlikely to be Roy's hit 1992 duet with k.d. lang. Note that this collection does not include "A Love So Beautiful".

Tracks: "Oh, Pretty Woman" ~ "I Drove All Night" ~ "You Got It" ~ "Crying" ~ "Only The Lonely" ~ "In Dreams" ~ "Love Hurts" ~ "Claudette" ~ "Blue Bayou" ~ "Dream Baby" ~ "Walk On" ~ "Falling" ~ "Running Scared" ~ "California Blue" ~ "Leah" ~ "Mean Woman Blues" ~ "Crawling Back" ~ "Ride Away" ~ "Too Soon To Know" ~ "She's A Mystery To Me" ~ "Blue Angel" ~ "It's Over" ~ "Ooby Dooby" ~ "Heartbreak Radio" ~ "Not Alone Anymore" ~ "Handle With Care"

Apart from the fact that this interesting overview includes both ends of Roy's immense career, on a personal level, Yours Truly KJS is pleased to see "Blue Angel" also included, a song of much personal comfort at this time of year thanks to the late, great ELO bassist Kelly Groucutt.
