Remembering David Bowie

#1,043: Hello ... Hello ... my old friends ... It's great to see you once again! Today - Monday 11th January 2016 - we mourn the passing of one of the greatest of the great musicians and artistes of our time after a hidden and honourable battle against cancer at the age of 69.

David Bowie went through many "Changes" in a distinguished career that endeared him to more than one generation of fans. No words that I can write at this time can adequately sum up his career and the impact of the man who started out with Davy Jones & The Lower Third and went on to do so much more, both inside and outside of the music industry.

Yet many fans of The Move - and, of course, ELO - do not fully appreciate the vital role that David Bowie played not only in the formation of Birmingham's finest but also their "move" to London which led ultimately to their successful residency at The Marquee and, by extension, the legacy of those amazing records we all know and love to this day. Both were his suggestion and probably the best advice that a young Trevor Burton, Ace Kefford, Roy Wood, Bev Bevan and Carl Wayne would ever receive.

Hence, in many respects, without the late David Bowie, there most likely would have been no Move and therefore no ELO. That's how important he was and why he is mourned today by Yours Truly KJS and ELO Beatles Forever (ELOBF).

Until next "Time" in the ELO (and related) Universe ... KJS ... 11-Jan-2016
