Jeff Lynne's ELO to Dock at Columbia Records

Sony's Columbia Records are the new home for Jeff Lynne's ELO
#967: Hello ... Hello ... my old friends ... It's great to see you once again! The "Dream" of a new Jeff Lynne's ELO album came a step closer to reality today [Thursday 10th September] with the announcement by Jeff Lynne via his official Facebook page that the ELO maestro has signed a worldwide deal with Columbia Records [interestingly, not Epic Records] thus:

"Jeff Lynne's ELO [have] signed a global deal with Columbia Records and [are] set to release a new ELO album! The first new ELO music in over a decade!" More news coming soon!"

A later post on the official Jeff Lynne's ELO web site stated that the new album will "be the first new ELO music in 15 years" and - being as "Zoom" came out in 2001 - this may indicate that we could see a new studio album in October/November this year or even early in the new year, as previously suggested by ELOBF.

It is perhaps no surprise that Jeff Lynne has left Frontiers Records to return to the Sony fold alongside [of course] fellow Traveling Wilbury Bob Dylan as he continues to enjoy the afterglow of his acclaimed Hyde Park performance last September and the ensuing increase in his public profile. The announcement is timed perfectly as it comes just a day before the release of the aforementioned Hyde Park concert on DVD and Blu-ray.

Yours Truly KJS and ELO Beatles Forever [ELOBF] looks forward to the new ELO album and those much anticipated 2016 live gigs so often hinted at in Jeff's recent media interviews.

Until next "Time" in the ELO [and related] Universe ... KJS ... 10-Sep-2015

  1. Wouldn't it be great to see Mik on stage with Jeff and Richard? Hope there is a good sprinkling of string instruments on this new venture. I miss that blue Barcus Berry violin.
