Review: Into This Space/Everything Is Fine (Sundae Club)

Sundae Club: Wishing that they were back in 1974 ... or 1982 ... or whenever?
#735: Hello ... Hello ... my old friends ... It's great to see you once again! ELO Beatles Forever (ELOBF) are pleased to both introduce you to Sundae Club and review their new single "Into This Space" b/w "Everything Is Fine"Sundae Club are the inventive and "technostalgic" duo Hamstall Ridware and Dr. C D Mille and their great new single, produced by George Shilling, is about to be fondly released in the lovingly retrospective editions of 8-track stereo cartridge (complete with free 8-track player), 10" x 78RPM vinyl and 7" x 45RPM ivory vinyl as well as the more usual (and more modern) download format. Two (2) bonus tracks entitled "110 Volts of Joy" and "Almeria" are supplied with the 8-track and download editions of the single.

"Into This Space" (4:17) on Side 1 is a song co-written with Diana Yukawa and features the award winning solo violinist and songwriter with a pensive, stirring violin solo intro dramatically morphing into a fast paced instrumental stringed anthem harking back to the heady days of 1982 complete with Fairlight synclavier and echoes of The Art Of Noise in their prime, all backed by the soaring vocals of Samantha Hudson.
Sundae Club have not a few links with artistes from the ELOBF universe and this is ably demonstrated with Side 2 track "Everything Is Fine" (5:20), which features former ELO and Wizzard member Bill Hunt on French Horn and erstwhile Pugwash touring buddy Matt Berry on "voiceover and announcements". With the altogether more sedate feel of a Valotti-tuned harpsichord in tandem with that French Horn and a certain church organ, this tune has the same feel as The Duckworth Lewis Method's lovable "Nudging & Nurdling". It's a single of musical contrasts that works and is therefore most certainly worthy of the endorsement of ELOBF! (9/10)

"Into This Space" b/w "Everything Is Fine" by Sundae Club will released on Wednesday 30th July. This charming single will be available to pre-order and/or buy in the above noted formats and limited editions from the Sundae Club Bandcamp site via this link thus:
