Is It All White? ELO Again last night |

E.T.A. were more than able support for ELO Again |
The seven member troupe, resplendent in white outfits, the odd wig and replete with white cello and blue violin - proceeded to deliver those Jeff Lynne penned ELO songs that we all know and love. It was great to again hear "10538 Overture" and "Big Wheels" live. Their version of "Can't Get It Out Of My Head" was note perfect. The band were totally at ease with themselves as they plied their trade here in the ELO heartland of the West Midlands.
ELO Again really excelled with the rockier elements of the ELO song catalogue, particularly with "Do Ya", "Hold On Tight" and "Rock 'n' Roll Is King" as they capitalized upon the resurgence of interest in ELO after the glorious Jeff Lynne headline appearance at BBC Children In Need Rocks last week. All seven members were a credit to themselves and to the legacy of ELO. Of special note, for me, had to be the string antics of Gaelle Favre and Sarah Waycott as they filled the shoes (so to speak) of the original blue violinist Mik Kaminski and long respected ELO (and Wizzard) cellist Hugh McDowell.
ELO Again are: Colin Smith (Guitar/Lead Vox) ~ Jim Ramsey (Bass/Vox) ~ Mike 'Chas' Holcombe (Piano/Keyboards) ~ Clive Smith (Percussion/Vox) ~ Gaelle Favre (Violin) ~ Sarah Waycott (Cello) and Sion Daffyd Dawson (Cello). Check out the band via their official web site thus:
ELO Beatles Forever (ELOBF) recommends ELO Again to those enlightened folks who enjoy the music of ELO/Jeff Lynne, The Move, Roy Wood, The Idle Race, 'Brum Beat', The Beatles and related artistes.
Until next "Time" in the ELO (and related) Universe ... KJS ... 23-Nov-2013
