Caught Live: Off The Ground @ Bilston 06/04/13

#521: Hello ... Hello ... my old friends ... It's great to see you once again! Whilst it is true to say that The White Hart is a traditional family pub in the heart of the Black Country, it is also the intimate 'home' venue for Off The Ground, the new Midlands musical venture for Craig Whale, Adam Willetts and Ian Hammond, a band raised from the ashes of Band On The Runn and featuring members of The BeatBack Brothers and The Lemuns.
Sadly for me, last night (Saturday 6th April) was just a flying visit to sample the first half of their take on familiar songs by the likes of The BeatlesELODavid BowieT.Rex and Dire Straits amongst not a few others. Yours Truly KJS managed to miss their cover of "Rock 'n' Roll Is King" but saw enough in their new live adaptations of "I Shot The Sheriff""Starman""Sultans Of Swing" and a Jeff Healey flavoured "Stuck In The Middle With You" coupled with established Band On The Runn favourites such as "C Moon""Got To Get You Into My Life" and "The Long And Winding Road" to be confident that this new band and will grow and flourish in the gigs ahead of them.
Off The Ground are currently taking bookings for gigs and the band will next take to the stage at The Swan in Kingswinford on the evening of Bank Holiday Sunday 5th May.

ELO Beatles Forever (ELOBF) recommends Off The Ground to those enlightened folks who enjoy the music of ELO/Jeff LynneRoy Wood'Brum Beat'The MoveThe Beatles and related artistes.

Until next "Time" in the ELO (and related) Universe ... KJS ... 07-Apr-2013
