No Answer to Eldorado

#321: Hello ... Hello ... my old friends ... It's great to see you once again! This week has seen ELO Beatles Forever (ELOBF) take delivery of the of the 40th Anniversary Edition of ELO's 1972 debut album "The Electric Light Orchestra" (Harvest/EMI #SHVL797) in CD/DVD and GLP formats. This is turning out to be a good year so far for ELO reissues (particularly in 180g vinyl) being as ELO's classic 1974 album "Eldorado: A Symphony by The Electric Light Orchestra" (#MOVLP469) was also released in 180g back in January thus:

Unfortunately, Yours Truly KJS didn't get the opportunity to buy an original issue of the first ELO album (also known as "No Answer" in the US) or the original Warner Bros. release of "Eldorado" (#K56090) when I was attempting to collect the ELO back catalogue back in the day. I did however nab a copy of the Jet/CBS yellow vinyl edition of "Eldorado" (#JETLP203) and the later single sleeved Fame/EMI reissue of "The Electric Light Orchestra" (#FA3084) in 1984. It's been really great buying new 12" vinyl and packaging again - even though my turntable went south years ago! If you're still pining for the return of vinyl and (like me) still reminiscing about ELO's golden period, you could do no worse than invest in this duo of ELO classic albums in their original formats?

Until next "Time" in the ELO (and related) Universe ... KJS ... 15-March-2012

  1. Not long after writing this article, I was playing old and new vinyl on a decent turntable! KJS@ELOBF
