#214: Hello ... Hello ... my old friends ... It's great to see you once again! When Yours Truly KJS ventured down to The Robin 2 in Bilston last month to witness yet another fantastic Beatles Blues and Blue Violin Project gig, I knew that there would be some support forthcoming from their friends. Hence, before Groucutt & Haynes took to the stage that night in advance of BBBV, it was delightful and enthralling to see and hear the musical talents of Fay & Latta during their set of around half a dozen songs.
Their music fitted in and matched the bluesy folk talents of Groucutt & Haynes and all three acts complimented each other perfectly. I was so impressed with Fay & Latta live that I decided to order their debut CD "The View From Here". So all week I have been playing this excellent production both at home and in my car. The album consists of twelve trax: "Nothing"; "Wake When The Sun Comes Out" ~ "Fool Again" ~ "Falling Slowly" ~ "The View From Here" ~ "Morning After" ~ "Black Sunday" ~ "How Does It Make You Feel?" ~ "Where Do We Go From Here?" ~ "If All Else Fails" ~ "Return To Nothing" ~ "Uninvited"
For me the whole recording is really nice with my stand out tracks being "Nothing", "Black Sunday", "If All Else Fails" and the superb, haunting song "Uninvited" - which actually sounds better live as a wholly acoustic piece. You can get a hold of "The View From Here" by Fay & Latta from their officialwebsite at: www.fayandlatta.co.uk
Better still, Fay & Latta will be celebrating the release of their debut album on Saturday 7th May by performing at The Cobbles & Clay Arts Cafe in Haworth, West Yorkshire. Entry is free and live music from Fay & Latta begins at 8PM.
ELO Beatles Forever (ELOBF) recommends "The View From Here" by Fay & Latta to those enlightened folks who enjoy the music of ELO/Jeff Lynne, Roy Wood, The Move, 'Brum Beat', The Beatles and related artistes.
Until next "Time" in the ELO (and related) Universe ... KJS ... 05-May-2011
